Early in the morning before anyone is awake, AJ has tons of personality and energy. He immediately says "cheese" any time I get out the camera. His new favorite thing to entertain us is making a "funny face" by squinting his eyes and smiling. We think it's super cute.

National Air and Space Museum Udvar-Hazy Center

We ditched swim practice on Wednesday because the weather was lousy and headed out to Dulles to see the National Air and Space Museum. It's the companion museum to the one on the National Mall. AJ is obsessed with airplanes these days so I knew he would be thrilled. Airplane is his favorite word right now.

Not a great picture lighting-wise, but it's a rare moment that I capture them both smiling at the camera.

Both kids got a chance to sit in a Cessna cockpit. Maybe we'll have another pilot in the family someday. It's in their blood after all! Their Poppy was crazy (and brave) enough to take-off and land on an aircraft carrier!

AJ watching the planes land at Dulles. The observation tower was definitely the highlight of the day. The kids could roam free and watch all the airplanes they wanted.

A quick picture of our friends. Marcy, Jacob, and Ellie joined us for our last minute excursion. We had such a fun morning together.

Charlotte's first dance class!

Charlotte went to her first dance class this afternoon at Buffa's Dance Studio in Burke. Jenna's mom (Jenna is sitting to the left of Charlotte in this photo) told me about it and I thought it would be a good time to try it. It's only 6 weeks and the class is 35 minutes. Charlotte could hardly wait and was most excited about seeing Jenna and wearing her special dance clothes. We couldn't watch much because there is only one small door to the room and it was super crowded with other moms. I got to peak in a couple times and Charlotte seemed to be having fun. I was busy chasing AJ and making sure he didn't tear the place down. He desperately wanted to be in the room with all the pink little girls. It all made me reminiscent of my dancing days as a girl. So much fun!

July 4th

We played it low key this year for July 4th because we've been busy getting our townhouse ready to rent. We had some afternoon fun at Walden Glen pool and then headed over to Nanny & Papa's cul-de-sac for their annual potluck. AJ enjoyed taking the flags out of the neighbor's yard and Charlotte learned the fun of firecracker poppers.

National Aquarium in DC

These have been hanging out in my "blog" folder for two months. We visited the National Aquarium back in the middle of May when Memme and Poppy were here for a short visit. Our neighborhood handyman, Melvin, gave us two free tickets.

The whole museum is underground and small. It only took about 45 minutes to see everything but it was perfect for our age group.

No outing would be complete with Memme and Poppy without a lunch trip to our favorite, Noodles and Co.

This is Charlotte swimming across the diving well tonight at Walden Glen pool at the home B meet. We signed her up for Super Team this summer which is for 6 and unders. She's definitely the youngest and smallest on the super team. They practice every day for 30 minutes. So far, she's loving it. Dave got in the pool with her tonight just in case but she didn't even need him. She's the last one on the right (d'uh, the other two kids are boys!). We're super proud of her!

AJ won't be pleased with this photo when he gets older but I'll kindly explain to him that he brought the white dress to me and wanted me to put it on him. So darn cute!
