Frying Pan Farm Park

I've been wanting to visit this working farm park for a while. It's free and run by the county. This is a good time of year to see the new spring baby animals. The weather was perfect - sunny but not too hot. It's definitely time for sunscreen and hats though.

Jack and his mom joined us too. Charlotte and Jack had a good time playing on the tractor and exploring the farm.

Charlotte loved the baby goats! They are really cute and she wasn't afraid to pet them.

The baby pigs are my favorite. The poor mommy pig - I thought I had it tough just feeding one baby! Charlotte was very curious about all the "ninnies".

We took a wagon ride around the farm with Megan and Jack. Megan is a Bradley friend and due with baby #2 in early July.

Spring Yardsale

Our neighborhood had a big multi-family yardsale on Saturday. I sold about $90 bucks worth of our junk which was better than my profits last year. I didn't think I had that much to sell but I can always find something. I love the feeling of getting rid of clutter in my house and closets. I think I inherited this obsession from my mommy dearest.

I bought this beach chair from our neighbor for a $1. Kellen and Charlotte are enjoying their breakfast in it. It will be great for the beach in June (Katie, if you're reading, can't you see C and Nora sitting in this chair on the beach?). C is still in her pajamas!

Kellen just wanted to hold Charlotte's hand. So sweet! The kids had a great time playing outside for four hours and we got to socialize with our neighbors. I'm glad the nice weather is back because now we'll see our neighbors more often.

We're enjoying all the extra outside time now that the weather is warming up.

The Pope at the White House

I'm becoming a regular at the White House - twice in one month! My friend, Marcy, invited me to join her and her husband, Vince, for the White House welcoming ceremony. I gave up my ticket for the Papal Mass tomorrow so I was thrilled to get another chance to see the Holy Father.

We stood pretty far back behind the fountain on the South Lawn. I was just happy to be there. This is Marcy and Vince. Vince is currently staffed by the Air Force at the Office of the Administration. One flash of his pass and we were on the White House grounds. Thank you, Vince and Marcy!

In the middle you can see the Pope and Mr. President. I took this from really far away so the resolution isn't great after I zoomed in quite a bit.

Laura and I are getting to be good friends :) Here is Laura, the Pope, and W. At the end of the ceremony, we all sang Happy Birthday to the Holy Father. Today is his 81st birthday. I'm not sure I'll ever have that opportunity again!

The tulips around the fountain were all in full bloom. Spring in Wash DC is beautiful!

Evidence I was there!

We hadn't planned to stay and see the motorcade, but we got stuck due to the street closures and couldn't get to our parking garage just two blocks away on the other side of the street. The constellation prize was that we got to see him pass by. I took a quick shot by holding my camera in the air. Not bad, eh? Just ignore the ugly sign about the Pope Mobile. The protesters were out in full force.

A big thank you to Papa for watching Charlotte this morning so I could be at this historical event!

I'm too sexy for my Fuzzi Bunz!

How funny is this pose? I think I should send it in to the marketing department for Fuzzi Bunz diapers. This is one of my favorite print diapers.

Charlotte was really posing for the camera. It was a humid balmy morning, and C was out playing on my parent's deck in Va Beach in just her diaper. I was taking pictures with my uncle's Nikon D80 digital SLR camera. That camera is SWEET! I loved it and took over 250 pictures in one weekend. Dave and I have always wanted a digital SLR but I think I need to learn more about photography before plunking down all that money.

Just holding that camera, I felt like a professional. Anyone have any good photography book recommendations? I'm thinking of a title like "How to take great photographs of your kid using the Nikon D80". Do you think Amazon carries that book? LOL.

Happy Birthday, Papa!

We enjoyed our first dinner outside tonight on our new deck. Who better to have over than one of our biggest contributors to the project, Papa! His 69th birthday is tomorrow. Happy Birthday, Papa! Do you like Charlotte's matching skinned knees?!

Nanny and Charlotte

Yummy burgers on the grill! Dave said we should grill out every weekend and eat outside as much as possible this summer. I agree!

Playgroup at Calder's

Charlotte got to hang out with all her buddies at Calder's house on Friday afternoon. They have a nice new basement playroom with plenty of room for toys and running around. Calder's mom had his table set up for coloring. How smart to tape the pieces of paper down to the table! Charlotte is coloring with Jenna and Calder. See more pictures on Calder's blog. Thanks for having us over.

In other news, we'll be out of town for a week. We head to Va Beach for some family fun tomorrow. Gammie is coming to town from Florida and Aunt Diane and Uncle Doug are driving up from North Carolina. We can't wait and I'll post lots of pictures when we return.

Happy April Fools Day!
