Kitchen Backsplash

Before backsplash

After backsplash - we love it.

Close-up of the backsplash. It's a natural stone mosaic pattern. It coordinates perfectly with the silestone counters and our cabinets. It's like it was made for our kitchen!

Master Bathroom Remodel

Here you go folks - the first of our renovation project pictures. The first three pictures are my only "before" photos during demo. I wish I had taken some better ones but no big deal. You can see it was just a small bathroom with one sink and dated yellow tile. Yuck! Our dream was to add another sink with an updated modern look.

A few pictures during the process. Our tile guy did a great job but since he works alone, it went slow. Fortunately, he had four weeks while we weren't living in the house. The last few weeks after move-in, we all used the kids' bathroom.

Here is the view from the master bedroom where we added a small wall and door frame. Prior to this, the area was just dead unusable space between the bathroom (to the left) and the walk-in closet (to the right). I know it's hard to visualize from this picture.

The finished product! We love it. Double sink vanity, new ceramic tile floor, wainscott tile walls with slate tile accent stripe, and fully tiled shower. It all came together just as we had envisioned but it wasn't easy picking everything out.

Close-up of the slate accent which is one of our favorite parts!

Unpacking almost done!

We're pretty much done unpacking boxes except for a few in the basement storage room. AJ and Charlotte will miss the big piles of packing paper!

Too cool!

We're still alive and well (maybe not well but just your normal colds and ear infections). We're enjoying the beautiful fall weather and wearing our shades. The house is slowly coming together. We're in the final stretch for renovation work and it might be time to start decorating and furniture shop! Before and after pictures soon! I promise.

First day of school for Charlotte!

Today was Charlotte's first day of school as a big 4 year old at Grace Weekday. After one year under her belt, she acted like an old pro. There were no fears this morning - just pure excitement. Poor AJ was asking for a backpack this morning. As soon as we dropped Charlotte off and got back in the car he said, "I wanna see Char-it" and kept repeating it the whole morning. He definitely missed his big sister.

Obligatory picture on the front steps before we leave!
Charlotte and Jacob today (Sept 13th, 2010)

Charlotte and Jacob on their 1st day last year, Sept 2009

They were so excited to be walking to their new classroom.
They held hands the whole way! So sweet.
Ready for a fun year with her friends in Mrs. Philips' class.

On the playground before pick-up. They have playground time with all the 4 year olds as the last activity before dismissal. Charlotte spotted me in the car waiting and AJ just kept saying that he wanted to play.

Hooray for a fun day of school!

We moved!

On moving day packing up the truck in front of our townhouse. God bless those movers. They packed our whole house on Friday and moved it all on Saturday. Worth. Every. Penny.

Unloading at our new house. They don't call them Mighty Men for nothing! The crew of four men worked their tails off!

Lots of changes for our family in the past few weeks. We moved on August 28th to our new house in Burke. We love it and so do the kids. Our townhouse is officially rented and our tenant moved in on Sept 1st. The white vans (plus a green pick-up truck not pictured) have been parked in front of our house on an almost daily basis for the last 7 weeks for renovations. We're eager to have it all be done and start unpacking more. So far, we've only unpacked the essentials since there is dust everywhere. It's going to be like Christmas time when I start getting all the toys out. I may just leave them in boxes because the kids really haven't missed them too much! More pictures to come on the inside changes. I'd like to be able to post "after" pictures with the "befores" so keep your fingers crossed.

Afternoon Snacks meets Nuggets Nursery!

Curl-Burke swimming buddies: Katie, Dave, Janney, Anne Marie, Sean
After reading Janney's blog (Afternoon Snacks) since Morgan was born, I felt like I already knew her kids. I finally got to meet them in person a couple weeks ago at her pool. Janney and Dave are old swimming buddies. Thanks for having us over, Janney and Willy. We had a blast. Morgan and Augusta are just as cute in person as they are on the blog :)
